Legislative Awareness and Advocacy

A) Promote best practices in dealing with victims of sexual assault in the community. This includes:

1) Advocating for local law enforcement to implement trauma informed response to sexual assault and to participate in the community's Sexual Assault Response Team.

2) Monitoring the implementation of legislation regarding the processing of Sexual Assault Evidence Kits.

B) Conduct anti-trafficking awareness campaign. This includes the distribution of “sticky notes” with national human trafficking hotline number in English and Spanish; educational programs for Zonta Club members and the community through training and awareness activities, and support of human trafficking survivors who are identified  to the club as needing assistance.

This committee also coordinates with the Leon County Commission on the Status of Women and Girls  to identify and advocate for policies  that will reduce the incidence of violence against women.
